What to expect

What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Appointment

At our chiropractic office, we want your treatment experience to be a pleasant one. One way to make sure of that is to keep you informed as to what to expect during your office visit. Generally, your first appointment will take a little longer than follow up visits as we will want to obtain information about you, your health background and the reason for your visit. Please plan on arriving at least 10 minutes early to make sure we have all the information we need to treat you. Make sure to bring your insurance card, list of medications, and if you have them, past medical records. During your exam, Dr. Carpenter will discuss your symptoms and any pain you may be having. You may be asked to bend and turn from side to side to determine your range of motion. Other diagnostic testing may be warranted including x-rays and lab reports. Once your health history and examination have been completed, Dr. Carpenter will discuss the treatment protocol he recommends. We encourage to you ask questions at any time during your appointment. Upon completion of your first exam and treatment, Dr. Carpenter will instruct you on suggested at-home therapies including heat/ ice therapy or stretching/strengthening exercises to help reduce inflammation and soreness. If on-going treatment is indicated, you can also make future appointments in advance so as to ensure you can see the doctor when your schedule allows.
